songs you hate to admit you like

this one is probably also a well-established blog meme which i've just not been aware of yet: i just caught myself turning up the volume when drs3 was playing mel c's latest single next best superstar (mona vetsch: "d'madame hett zu de gitarre glanget"). the fact that garbage lead singer shirley manson once expressed a wish for all spice girls to be "tarred and feathered" makes it pretty hard to admit that sporty spice did a damn good job with this song ;-) while i'm at it:

  • kylie minogue: can't get you out of my head
  • sugababes: too lost in you
  • adrian stern: ha nur welle wuesse
  • the rasmus: in the shadows
  • no angels: daylight in your eyes
  • reamonn: supergirl
  • britney spears: toxic
(check this or this out if you need inspiration)

No, but it could be starting now... :-)

Ditto on the Spears and the Minogue. Though actually, I'm beginning to wonder if Spears will traverse the Madonna cusp (which occurred somewhere between "Borderline" and "Vogue") and turn into someone I don't have to apologize for bouncing to. (I'm not betting on it -- she seems crasser and more superficial than the Material Girl -- but then, if you'd asked me about Madonna in 1986, well...)

i know what you mean with "madonna in 1986" (age 11; laughing about madonna, sabrina, and jacko fans; myself being way cooler, in love with bon jovi guitar player richie sambora)

madonna's transition from 1986 material girl to 2005 pop icon is probably also rooted in the fact that she is actually still here (and has always been around for almost 20 years...)
