markus has just told me about library thing, a service which allows you to catalog books online and share your s(h)elf with friends. in short, what flickr does for photos, this thing does for books (including today's "must haves", like ajax, zeitgeist, tagging, and rss).

I've just discovered a handy thunderbird patch which supports import/export of RSS feeds as OPML:
- exit thunderbird
- download the newsblog.jar patch
- copy it to
[thunderbird]/chrome (note: the patch is alpha quality, so you may want to make a backup copy of the original jar first) - start thunderbird
- in the "News & Blogs" account: launch the "Manage Subscriptions" dialog and you will see two shiny OPML import/export buttons

why sharing the christmas dinner table with my english workmates was a very good choice:

the new website of switzerland's daily news show tagesschau features a nice category called schon vergessen? which lists major events in swiss history and even lets you watch the corresponding tagesschau video snippet.
today: while moritz leuenberger got elected for president of the federal council, lilian uchtenhagen didn't succeed in becoming the first female council member on december 7, 1983. I faintly remember my mother being really upset 22 years ago...
